This week I want to talk about juicing. Everyone knows that we need to eat more fruits and vegetables but sometimes it's hard and we don't always feel like sitting down to 3 cups of baby carrots! Fresh juices are one of the easiest ways to load up on tons of fresh fruits and veggies without having to eat your way through the produce section! Juices are also much easier to digest by the body so the nutrients are better absorbed by the body. It also gives you a rush of liquid energy better than any cup of coffee or energy drink! Since juices provide organic hydration and oxygenation the vitamins and minerals they contain are directly absorbed into your cells which leads to a more vibrant and healthy body! Juices also neutralize the acidity in our bodies. An overly acidic body can lead to breakouts and irritations on your skin. And we talked about oxygenation last week and the good things antioxidants can do when applied topically so just imagine what they can do when they're directly absorbed by your cells!
If you remember from last week I really believe you are what you eat so when you eat pure live foods you're building a pure live body! And what's more beautiful than going through life as the vibrant amazing you you were meant to be?!
Here are a few of my favorite recipes that are great for your skin!
The first is called Green Lemonade. I L-O-V-E Natalia Rose and all her Raw Food Detox books. I first started using this recipe about 5 years ago and I keep going back! It's pretty much addictive! In fact I had it this morning!
1 head romaine lettuce or celery
5 to 6 stalks kale
1 to 2 apples (she recommends fuji apples)
1 whole organic lemon (peel and all)
1 to 2 inches fresh ginger (optional)
The next set of juices all directly work to affect the skin. They contain loads of beta carotene, which converts to vitamin A in the body and is a powerful antioxidant, as well as silicon. Silicon is a very important mineral for the skin. It keeps us unblemished and wrinkle free. Silicon helps restore lost elasticity, firmness and tone. These juices also contain lots of other important vitamins and mineral that help prevent skin disease and combat the effects of aging. Even vitamin D which many people are deficient in!
The Skin Cleanser
1/2 green bell pepper
handful kale or spinach
1/2 handful kale or spinach (whichever you didn't choose for the handful)
1/2 handful turnip greens
Satin Skin (another favorite of mine)
1/2 inch of ginger
1/2 green bell pepper
